This weekend sees Labour's 63rd National Conference which is being held in Kilkenny. Once again we have planned a range of online activities and events which will bring the conference to you even if you are not one of the 1200 delegates coming to Kilkenny.

Among this conference's key moments during the weekend is the Leader's speech on Saturday evening, as well debates on finance, social and family affairs and agriculture among others.

There will be also be a presentation of the Jim Larkin Thirst for Justice award made posthumously to the late Susie Long which will be accepted by her husband Conor McLiam. Life long members of the party will be awarded with long service awards and Michael Farrell (representative of the Civil Rights Commemorative Committee) to mark the 40th anniversary of the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Movement.

Live streaming of conference
Last year's web streaming of the conference proved to be very popular and you can catch all the debates on Ustream including the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore's keynote speech on Saturday evening. Labour is the first and only political party in Ireland broadcasting our conference in this way and last year's streaming was a huge success.

Q&A with key spokespeople
Over the next day or two we are asking you to submit your questions to Deputy Leader Joan Burton, Spokesperson on Finance, Deputy Roisin Shortall, Spokesperson on Social and Family Affairs and Senator Alex White, Spokesperson on Children and Leader of the Labour group in the Seanad. You can put your question to them in the comments below and keep an eye out for their response which will be posted on the conference website and on our You Tube channel.

Follow on Flickr
Throughout the weekend we will be uploading images from the conference to Flickr from speakers on the day to behind the scenes shots and you can peruse them using the following link. All images will be tagged with 'conference 08'.

What are we doing - Twitter
If you use Twitter you can follow the Labour Party's Twitter account and get information on proceedings, key points of speeches and more all through your mobile phone. To find out more about and to sign up to Twitter click on the link.

All these features will be up and running in our conference website over the next couple of days, so keep an eye on Labour.ie for updates. Course you could also check out photographs from last year's conference.

Conference looks to be great, especially the (shameless plug) Labour Youth Fringe Event: "Expanding Labour, Expanding The Economy" -
A Labour perspective on the current economic situation, with Michael D Higgins and Michael Taft, taking place at 13:00-14:00 in the Parlour Room.

I'm also looking forward to the odd Pint Bottle of Smithwicks or two. Is fearrdhe thú Smithwicks!

Looking forward to the conference. There has never been a more exciting time to be in the Labour Party than now. There is a watershed in international and national politics.

As Fine Gael strengthen their links to the Torys the left right divide in Irish politics opens up and now is Labour's time.

The naughties will be socialist

Well done to the Labour Party in organising
this live-streaming event.
At a time when much of the island of Ireland
lacks broadband internet provision, streaming
the weekend's events is visionary.
As a professional news-media press reporter &
editor working on mainland Europe, I commend
the Labour Party's audio-visual crew and this
weekend's productions: the fruit of their
labour!

I enjoyed the Leaders speech this evening and am sorry to miss this event which I watched on TV. It was nice to see Willie Penrose in full flow and that the Ballynacargy bus got there on time! What a contrast on the News- nervous FF councillors in Tullamore and "Gilmore for Taoiseach" signs in Kilkenny !!!!
Roll on the elections we will ensure there are "wigs on the Green" in Castlepollard!!!
