Why I got involved in politics
I have been actively involved in community issues since my teenage years.
Being a member of Kilkenny County Council is a natural evolution of that engagement. The work is important, interesting and challenging.
Everyone should have the best possible quality of life in terms of lifestyle, access to services, quality of environment and sense of safety and security.
This quality of life should be underpinned by access to housing, education, health and welfare services and the protection of individual and communal well-being.
Tomás represented Kilmacow in soccer, gaelic football, hurling, tennis, athletics and badminton.
He was actively involved in many clubs and organizations locally including the Development Group, Town Twinning, Hospice Support Group, Tidy Towns and was chairperson of the Confederation of Community Groups of South Kilkenny.
Tomás is PRO of the Mullinavat branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann He is a founder member and director of Ring a Link, the local rural bus company.
Tomás is a former teacher. Among the subjects he taught were Accounting, Economics, History and English.
