Why I got involved in politics

I entered politics as I wanted to prioritize community mental health and wellbeing at local government level.

I sit on the North Dublin Drug and Alcohol Taskforce and the oversight committee of Planet Youth, the most comprehensive youth -focused project in Fingal in recent years.

It is based on the Icelandic Model of drug and alcohol abuse prevention and I am excited to see how it progresses. As a committee member of Skerries Youth Support Services (SYSS), I witness the power and positivity that is harnessed when people come together for benefit of all.

My priorities

My five fellow Labour councillors and our local electoral area representative, Corina Johnston, are currently working on the Fingal Development Plan 2023-2029.

This will be the spatial plan guiding the future development of the country. there will be two further opportunities to have your say when it comes to important themes such as housing, climate, cultural heritage.

My background

My name is Seána Ó Rodaigh and I was honoured to be elected Mayor of Fingal in June 2021. I am a Labour Councillor representing the people of Loughshinny, Skerries, Balrothery and Balbriggan.

The past few months have been very busy but also hugely rewarding. As the country opens up again, it has been a privilege to visit many community events and initiatives as Mayor. I am seeing thevery best of what people can do when they work together. I am also very aware of how much people have suffered since March 2020 and want to thank our health care workers for carrying us through the pandemic.

I am delighted to provide monthly clinics in Skerries and Balbriggan ig you would like to meet me in person. I work very closely with Duncan Smith TD and I am proud that we are continuing the strong Labour tradition in Fingal.

Fingal is a beautiful place to live but it is the people who make it. i am excited about how I can help you shape the future of our towns.
