Ceasefire Protest & Vigil

Labour members have had a solid and consistent presence at the many marches and vigils calling for a ceasefire in Gaza since the horrific attacks of 7th October and the ongoing war in the region.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza and call for an end to the cycle of violence that has plagued the region for far too long. The devastating impact of the conflict on civilian populations, infrastructure, and basic human rights cannot be overlooked. Immediate action is needed to alleviate the suffering and pave the way for the future.

Governments and international organisations must exert concerted diplomatic and economic pressure to de-escalate tensions and forge a sustainable ceasefire agreement. Immediate action is paramount to prevent further loss of life and ensure the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to those in need.

The time to act decisively and bring an end to the devastating conflict is now. We implore world leaders and global institutions to take immediate action. The time for rhetoric is over; concrete steps need to be taken to halt the violence and facilitate dialogue that leads to a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire. The people of Gaza cannot afford further delay; their lives and futures depend on our collective resolve to bring about peace.

Ireland must take a lead. At next week’s EU Council meeting, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar must voice the horror and dismay of the Irish people and give a rallying call to those countries willing to come together to exert maximum pressure on Israel to halt the killing of civilians.
