Party Leader Ivana Bacik T.D. was joined by Senator Mark Wall, Councillor Marie Tuohy, Councillor Seán Ó hArgáin and Local Area Rep Eoin Barry at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska. Together, they represented Labour, engaging with numerous visitors and local businesses while discussing key farming and rural issues.
Labour believes farmers must be supported to diversify and produce food sustainably with a just transition. We support CAP reforms and agricultural policies that protect small family farms and disadvantaged farmers, rewarding those who meet environmental and biodiversity standards.
Labour’s presence at the Ploughing Championships highlighted the importance of engaging with rural communities. We are dedicated to revitalizing small towns and villages, ensuring that essential supports are in place for rural populations. Our calls for the upcoming Budget include increased mental health supports, improved ambulance response times, and faster broadband rollout.
Founded in 1912 as the political wing of the Irish Trades Union Congress, the Labour Party has deep roots in rural areas, advocating for better living conditions, work, and wages. We remain committed to those core concerns, continuously striving to deliver an Ireland that works for all.
Together, let’s build a sustainable future for our farmers and rural communities!
