Although our amendments to the wording of the referendums were not accepted, the substantial changes to the Constitution that the proposals will make are long overdue and worthy of our support.  

  

The failure of the Government to adopt the wording proposed by the Oireachtas Committee on Gender Equality is disappointing but it’s time that the Constitution is updated to reflect the changes in Irish society. 

 

We will be rolling out campaign materials in relation to these referendums over the coming weeks and encourage all members to get involved.
