Ireland Pass the Test- Ryan

Labour Spokesperson on Sport and TD for Dublin-Fingal Brendan Ryan, has welcomed the decision by the International Cricket Council to award Ireland full Test status.

Deputy Ryan said:

“It has taken ten long years but the news today that Ireland has been awarded full Test status is great for the sport in Ireland, and a just reward for all the T20 and One Day success Ireland has enjoyed over the past decade.

“Our players have made a real impact in the work of cricket, with many players from my own area of North County Dublin playing a key role in elevating the sport’s stature in Ireland.

“North County Dublin has a rich tradition of Cricket with many great clubs and fine players who have played an active role in lobbying for Ireland’s Test status.

“This is a great day in the history of Irish Cricket, and I look forward  to attending Ireland’s first test series in the near future.”
