Statement from Joan Burton on death of Liam O’Flynn

Labour Party spokesperson on the Arts, Joan Burton TD has expressed sadness on the passing of piper, Liam O’Flynn. 

Deputy Burton said:

“I’m very sad to hear of the passing of Liam O’Flynn, one of the greatest pipers of all time.

“Liam O’Flynn was a tremendous ambassador for music in Ireland and around the world and inspired so many.

“As we enter into St.Patrick’s Day weekend, the music of Liam O’Flynn and Planxty will be heard all over the world. During this time we will remember the lasting impression Liam has had on Irish music.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam”
