Statement by Labour Party leader Brendan Howlin on the death of Seán Treacy

Labour Party leader Brendan Howlin TD has expressed his sadness at the passing of former Labour TD and Ceann Comhairle Seán Treacy.

Deputy Howlin said:

“It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Seán Treacy, who was father of the house and a distinguished member of the Oireachtas for many years.

“I served with Seán in the Parliamentary Party over the years and I know he was a fantastic representative for the people of his constituency of Tipperary South.

“I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family, friends and all those who knew and worked with him at local and EU level.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
