Bacik launches Labour Yes Campaign in Galway
Today, Senator Ivana Bacik launched the Labour Party campaign for a Yes vote in Galway, with Labour representative for Galway West, Councillor Niall McNelis.
Senator Bacik said:
“I am delighted to be launching the Labour Yes campaign for Galway West with Councillor Niall McNelis today.
“Labour representatives and members are working hard all across the country to make the case for a Yes vote on 25th May. We know how vitally important it is to repeal the Eighth Amendment so we can legislate with compassion to provide the necessary care for women in Ireland.
“This week the Labour Party also launched our Irish language posters and these will now go up across Galway asking for a Tá for ‘ar son Sláinte na mBan’ and ‘Tuiscint i gCruachás’.
Cllr Niall McNelis said:
“If we don’t remove the 8th amendment nothing can change. Sometimes things go wrong in a pregnancy and we need to let doctors do their jobs.
“As we saw so tragically saw here in Galway with Savita Halappanavar, doctors must be able to act without fear of the law, and with the mothers best interests at the centre of their decision making.
“That’s why over the next three weeks we will be campaigning for a Yes vote, for women’s health and for compassion in a crisis.”
