Files and audit results must be provided to women impacted by Cervical Check this week
Labour spokesperson on Health, Alan Kelly TD has called on Minister Simon Harris and the HSE to ensure all those women impacted by the Cervical Check scandal have their full files and audit results provided to them without delay as he committed to yesterday in the Dáil.
Deputy Kelly said:
“With Standing4Women protests planned for across Ireland this evening over the Cervical Check scandal, it is essential that the commitments made by the Government a fortnight ago to the women affected are delivered on.
“In the Dáil yesterday during Questions to the Minister for Health I raised with him that the 209 women affected are not obtaining the documentation they require.
“They are going to meet their consultants and being told to go through official lines to get the documentation. This is treating women who have been treated very badly with further disdain. That is why I do not have confidence in management.
“I asked the Minister for a guarantee that the HSE will give all documentation and audit review findings to the women in question by the end of this week. He said he was disgusted by what I told him, and would immediately follow up with the HSE to ensure this was done.
“The Minister rightly said this was information belonging to the women impacted and that there should be no bureaucratic hurdles in their way.
“I hope the Minister has delivered on his commitment yesterday, and that the women will now receive their documentation and that all hurdles and blockages will be removed.”
