Kelly calls on new Minister for Health to restore services to St.Brigid’s Hospital

30 June 2020

Labour Party Leader Alan Kelly TD, pressed the new Minister for Health to signal when services will resume in St.Brigid’s Hospital in Carrick-on-Suir.

Deputy Kelly said:

“During my first opportunity to question the new Minister for Health, I raised the issue of the re-opening of St.Brigid’s Hospital in Carrick-on-Suir.

“Since the beginning of the Covid crisis, St.Brigid’s Hospital in Carrick-on-Suir has been re-designated as a Covid-19 step-down facility.

“The hospital currently lies practically empty and staff have been re-deployed to other hospital and care settings.

“This is obviously bringing a lot of worry and anxiety to the people of Carrick-on-Suir and the surrounding areas.

“Today in the Dáil, I told the new Minster for Health that he needs to examine this issue as a matter of priority.

“I will continue to raise this issue with the new Minister for Health until this matter is rectified.”
