Sherlock urges people not to be complacent with farm safety
Speaking at the start of Farm Safety Week Labour Spokesperson on Agriculture Sean Sherlock has urged people not to be complacent with machinery and livestock
Deputy Sherlock said
“This initiative is very important in raising awareness of the unacceptable level of accidents occurring on farms every year.
“Behaviour change is needed to achieve a safe safe farm and it is important that farmers do not take unnecessary risks on the farm by adhering to the Farm Safety Code of practice.
“The number of farm fatalities are still too high and we have seen with advent of Tik Tok and the reckless farm stunt videos showing the misuse of farm equipment, that have appeared over the last couple of months, that many do not take farm safety seriously enough.
“I fully support the #SpeakUp for #FarmSafety campaign as part of Farm Safety week which asks the public to speak up for farm safety if they witness or see unsafe behaviour on the farm.
