More about me

Terry O'Brien

Any time.. any day...!

Why I got involved in politics

I used to be involved in local projects and community initiatives and my neighbour Dick Spring contacted me and asked me if I would get involved and contest the town council elections in 1999...

My priorities

As a local politician I have a keen interest in the County but more so in my own municipal area. Obviously rejuvenating our towns and villages after covid is very important and also improving our tourism infrastructure.

My background

I am a Labour County and town councillor since 1999... I've been successful in all local elections that I took part in... but was not successful in the 2007 general election.

I was mayor of Kerry in 2013 and mayor of Tralee on five occasions. I am married to Teresa a cork woman and we have 14 year old twins Millie and Mark.

Clubs and Committees

I am the chairperson of the warriors basketball club in Tralee. I am also the chairperson of the Gleann Lí secondary school, vice chairperson of Kerry education and training service.

I am a board member of Tralee Sports Complex, a board member of Kerry Airport and also a member of the economic SPC in Kerry County Council.
