Waiting periods for Waterford University Hospital are beyond acceptable.
Labour Party General Election candidate, Cllr. John Pratt has called for action on extraordinary waiting lists for outpatients in Waterford, with some patients now waiting up to 4 years.
Cllr. Pratt said:
“Following the raising of this issue in the Dáil with the Minister I am adding my voice to that of Brendan Howlin in the call for action on waiting periods for patients at Waterford University Hospital.
” The commitment in the programme for Government to reduce outpatient waiting lists and waiting times, in particular, waiting times for ear, nose, and throat services in the south-east based in Waterford University Hospital has seen no action in the last two and half years.
“We have been told repeatedly by the manager of the hospital that the waiting time to be seen in the outpatients’ department of Waterford University Hospital is now four years.
“What is the Government going to do to address this situation or is the commitment to the programme for Government entirely fatuous? The people of Waterford deserve better.”
