Labour leadership election count arrangements
The postal ballot poll for the Labour Party leadership closes tomorrow, Friday 3rd April at 12pm, or when the daily postal delivery occurs (up to 5.30pm). The address for returning ballots was to our external auditors Mazars, at Harcourt Centre, Dublin 2.
Due to the extraordinary circumstances arising from the public health measures in place to combat the Covid-19 pandemic there are changes to the usual access arrangements that would apply for a Labour Leadership election count.
Only the appointed returning officer Conor Power S.C will carry out the sorting and counting of ballots in a room in Mazars. There will be no other access. He is due to start the count at 2.15pm or when the daily post arrives. There will be a video link from the count room to the appointed observers and election agents of each candidate.
When the count is completed there will be an announcement of the result by the returning officer via a live Facebook video feed on the Labour Party page. We expect to provide a minimum notification period of 30 minutes to meida before the announcement of the newly elected Leader.
