Selection Convention updates March 2024

We have now selected 98 candidates for the Local Elections, and we are set to reach 100 after Easter.

Since our last Left Field update, we have selected Cllr. Joanna Tuffy in Lucan, Cllr. Willie Quinn in Muine Bheag and Fergal Landy in Athenry-Oranmore.

We have selected Cllr Terry O’Brien and Ben Slimm in Tralee, Cllr. Marie Moloney in Killarney, Michael Brennan in Carrick-on-Suir.

In the run-up to conference last week we had a very busy week, with James Duffy selected in Glenties, Tom O’Connor selected in Dublin’s North Inner City, John Nisbet selected in Artane Whitehall, John Lonergan (our youngest candidate at just 19 years of age!) was selected in Ballymun-Finglas.

Cllr. Pamela Kearns and Ciaran Ahern were selected in Rathfarnham-Templeogue, Abdulazaiz Alymoayyad was selected in Tallaght South and Cllr. Niall McNelis was selected in Galway City West. Seamus Ryan has also been selected in Ennis this week.

Nominations have opened for the Midlands North-West constituency, with the selection convention taking place on Sunday 14th April at 2pm in the Clayton Hotel, Galway. We have one candidate who is eligible to be nominated as the primary candidate, Fergal Landy, and two candidates who are eligible to be nominated for the substitute panel, Cllr. Angela Feeney and Cllr. Michelle Hall. It would be great to see as many members out to support our Midlands North West candidate at the convention.

We will also be opening the selection convention process for the Limerick Directly Elected Mayor contest. So stay tuned for updates!
