No justification for any delay to Technological Universities Bill – O’Sullivan

19 May 2016

The Technological Universities Bill must be progressed in the Oireachtas without delay, Jan O’Sullivan told the Dail today.

“As Minister for Education, I got the Bill as far as Report Stage in the Dail before the general election and it is imperative that it moves as quickly as possible.

“Already the consortium in Dublin has done a significant amount of work, but they now need the Bill to become law so that they can move forward.

“Getting clarity on this is important to the regions because these proposed technological universities will be engine drivers in terms of the development of a number of regions in the country.

“I can’t see any good reason for the legislation to be delayed at this stage. Further delays will simply cause confusion and uncertainty.”
