Ross is missing in action on toll operator dispute

25 August 2016

Labour Party TD for Tipperary Alan Kelly has called on the Minister for Transport Shane Ross to intervene immediately in the escalating toll operator dispute.

Deputy Kelly commented: “The dispute between the Celtic Roads Group and Eflow needs to be resolved immediately before the travelling public are affected.

“The Celtic Roads Group has announced they will discontinue the Eflow service from next week onwards on the M1 near Drogheda, the M7/M8 south of Portlaoise and the N25 at Waterford. This will massively inconvenience the travelling public because it will lead to a return to the long queues we used to see at the M50 toll plaza. Minister for Transport Shane Ross must not allow this to happen.

“So far the Minister has completely taken his eye off on the ball on this issue and because of his inaction the situation has escalated. I am calling on Minister Ross to immediately bring the two parties together and facilitate an amicable outcome so that the travelling public and businesses are not adversely affected.
