Action is needed to accelerate the payment of the Basic Payment Scheme for 10,000 farmers according to Labour spokesperson on Agriculture Willie Penrose TD.

“Farmers are facing into the winter period after a difficult summer and autumn and the uncertainty of Brexit. “This is the second year of the new CAP scheme and these unnecessary delays relating to IT are no longer accepted anymore.

“It is absolutely imperative that farmers and their families have certainty over their income and the delay in the BPS is stressful for many families in rural Ireland.
