SYMBOL OF APOLLO HOUSE MUST BE MET WITH STATE DEEDS

Commenting on the High Court ruling on Apollo House, Labour Party spokesperson Joe Costello said:

“A grassroots movement has transformed Apollo House into a symbol of how a community can respond positively to the homelessness crisis.”

“It has become a touchstone for the failures of our profit driven housing market, which has failed to provide sufficient homes and services for too many people.”

“When we reach the High Court injunction date of 11th January the State must be able to demonstrate that there are adequate services and appropriate housing for all those seeking refuge there.”

“I call on Minister Coveney and the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive to ensure that safe, dry homes and hostel spaces are available for all in January, and not just at Christmas.”
