LANDY TO ATTEND MARCH IN SUPPORT OF UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL WATERFORD

13 January 2017

Commenting on the announcement that a mobile catheterisation lab is to be provided to University Hospital Waterford, Tipperary Labour Senator Denis Landy said:

“In November, Minister Halligan met University Hospital Waterford Consultants with Minister Simon Harris. He heard first hand of the stagnant waiting lists for those awaiting treatment at the cardiology unit. Minister Halligan has stated before that the provision of a second cath lab at UHW was a make or break issue for his supporting this government.

“This 11th hour attempt to placate marchers in support of UHW with a “Mobile Cath Lab” as a substitute for providing adequate cardiac facilities at UHW fools nobody.

“I support the South East Patient Advocacy Group’s campaign to ensure the Government keeps its commitments in respect of UHW and I will be attending this Saturday’s protest on behalf of my Labour colleagues in support of essential Hospital services for the entire South East.”
