BUS EIREANN TALKS WELCOME

Brendan Ryan, Labour Party spokesperson on Transport has welcomed news that industrial action planned for Monday has been averted as talks on the dispute enters the Workplace Relations Commission.

Deputy Ryan said:

“I had called for talks to take place in advance of any further escalation of the dispute and I welcome the move by SIPTU and the NBRU today to defer Monday’s action, and the news that management have also deferred implementation of their proposals

“Ultimately I do believe this can be resolved and I hope the talks in the WRC bear fruit for the workers and commuters.

“Bus Éireann needs to survive, it is to vital to the transport needs of the entire country. I wish all the stakeholders well in the discussions and I hope it the lead to a resolution.”
