Ó RÍORDÁIN CONTINUES WITH BEAUMONT A&E CAMPAIGN WITH PUBLIC MEETING IN DONAGHMEDE

29 March 2017

Labour Senator Aodhán Ó Ríordáin is continuing his campaign for appropriate investment in the Emergency Department in Beaumont Hospital with a public meeting in Donaghmede Inn on Thursday evening the 30th of March at 8pm.

“I have been campaigning for increased investment in the Beaumont Hospital’s Emergency Department for a number of years.

“On the 12th of October 2015 I concluded a number of meetings with the then CEO Liam Duffy who presented a plan for a €45million investment in the A&E to improve the conditions and capacity.

“On the 19th of January 2016 the senior management team from Beaumont Hospital met with the then Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin TD who committed to working with the Hospital management to deliver the much-needed investment.

“Since my election as a Senator I have conducted a local campaign to demand of the government to live up to the commitment given by the Labour Party in government: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlPb7Y5ZciU

“I raised the matter on the 13th of October 2016 on the floor of the Seanad with a disappointing response given by the Minister of State McGrath: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-NzOMC-Kmo&t=5s

“It is now time, after over a year of inaction on this issue, to raise the temperature on Government Ministers to deliver. I have arranged for a series of meetings over the coming months for patients and workers to come together to demand the investment, and the first of these meetings is tomorrow night in the Donaghmede Inn.

“We will again be calling on the government to commit to investing in this vital service for the people of Dublin’s Northside.”
