Limerick jobs boost a vote of confidence in the region- O’Sullivan

12 June 2017

Limerick Labour TD Jan O’Sullivan has welcomed news today that up to 400 jobs are to come on stream for the city at US financial services company Northern Trust over the next five years.

Deputy O’Sullivan commented:

“This jobs boost is another welcome vote of confidence in Limerick, and comes on the back of previous announcements for the region over the past few years.

“Northern Trust is already a substantial employer in Limerick, with up to a thousand people working at its two sites, and this announcement today highlights its belief in not only the ability of staff here, but the region as a whole.

“I think it’s also important to note the contribution of our local university and institute of technology, UL and LIT, in the development of an educated, skilled and trained workforce, which continues to produce a high calibre of students year after year. The work of these institutions has played a large part in the success of the region.

“At a time when people are worried about a concentration of new jobs on the east coast, it is most welcome to see a big boost like this for Limerick over the next five years.”
