Statement on the death of Conal Kavanagh

28 August 2017

Labour Party Leader Brendan Howlin has expressed his sadness on the sudden death of former Wicklow Councillor Conal Kavanagh.

“I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Conal Kavanagh on Sunday. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife and their children, his father, mother and sister.

“Conal had been a life long member of the Labour Party and served on both Wicklow County Council and Wicklow Town Council from 2004 to 2014.

“Despite stepping down from elected office in 2014, he had remained an active member of the Labour Party in Wicklow.

“He followed in his father Liam’s political footsteps by putting his name forward to represent the people of his home county in 2011.

“I know he will be missed by all those who knew and served with him.
