Trade union recognition by Ryanair a significant move – Howlin

15 December 2017

Labour Party Leader Brendan Howlin TD, has welcomed the decision by Ryanair to recognise pilot unions in an attempt to avoid a pre-Christmas strike.

Deputy Howlin said:

“This significant move by Ryanair to recognise pilot unions for the first time is to be welcomed.

“For too long we have seen a denial of the right to organise among some industrial sectors. The hard work by the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association and IMPACT shows the value and power that comes with being a member of a trade union.

“It is now imperative that the Government bring in legislation to ensure that all workers enjoy the benefits of collective bargaining.

“The Labour Party will continue to campaign on this basic right for all workers.”
