Statement by Brendan Howlin on the death of Paddy Harte

08 January 2018

Labour Party Leader Brendan Howlin has extended his sympathy to the family and friends of former Donegal North East TD Paddy Harte.

“I was deeply saddened to hear today of the death of former Fine Gael TD for Donegal North East, Paddy Harte.

“On behalf of the Labour Party I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife Rosaleen, their nine children, including his son Jimmy who previously served as a Labour Party Senator, and the extended family, friends and the many voters who returned him to Dáil Éireann over many elections.

“I know he will be missed by all those who knew and served with him and will remember his work on Northern Ireland and the peace process. In his retirement he continued his public advocacy, working on the project to develop an Island of Ireland peace park in Flanders in Belgium.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
