Micheál Ó’Súilleabháin will be greatly missed for his huge contribution to Irish music

Labour TD, Jan O’Sullivan, has paid tribute to musician and academic Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin

Speaking today Deputy O’Sullivan said:

“Micheál Ó’Súilleabháin will be greatly missed for his huge contribution to Irish music but his spirit will live on through all who have heard his music, learned from him and experienced his energy, enthusiasm, and warmth.

“His work elevated the appreciation of traditional Irish music both, at home, and abroad. His establishment of the Irish World Acadamy of Music in Limerick University will be a lasting and fitting legacy.

“His contributions to the musical education of students in UL was immense and I know many across the country will be saddened to hear of his passing today.

“I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues in the University of Limerick.”
