Statement from Brendan Howlin following meeting with Jeremy Corbyn
Following a constructive meeting with the leader of the UK Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn, Labour Party Leader Brendan Howlin said he was assured that a no-deal Brexit is off the table.
Deputy Howlin said:
“Following my meeting with Jeremy Corbyn I am confident that parliament will block a no-deal Brexit. Britain needs a general election to break the deadlock.
“I am assured following our meeting that no matter who wins the Tory leadership election, Parliament will not back a no deal Brexit.
“I will continue to put forward the damaging impact Brexit will have on Ireland to colleagues in the British Labour Party as we get closer to the October deadline.”
