HSE must take heed of safe staffing warnings
Labour Health spokesperson, Alan Kelly TD, has said the HSE must take heed of warnings from hospital consultants on safe staffing at the National Children’s Hospital.
Deputy Kelly said:
“The warnings from paediatric consultants about safe staffing for the urgent care centre at Connolly Hospital are extremely stark and give us a glimpse at some of the problems we may face we progress is make on opening other sections of the National Children’s Hospital.
“Sick children who need to use this facility deserve the world-class treatment they were promised. If medical professionals feel that adequate care cannot be provided, then the HSE need to urgently work with those at the front line to find a solution.
“This summer the lack of specialist consultants in the public system as done to the fore. It is time for the Government and HSE to meaningfully address this issue.”
