Department must clarify statement on Oughterard

Labour Party TD for Tipperary, Alan Kelly TD has called on the Department of Justice to clarify their language in their statement on Oughterard.
Deputy Kelly said:
“The statement released by the Department of Justice on Oughterard is absolutely bizarre and the language used is completely disgraceful.
“In their statement the Department of Justice say ‘those who come to Ireland seeking accommodation and requesting State services’, this language is cold and not becoming of Ireland’s reputation as a welcoming State.
“This statement is extremely disparaging, and unbecoming of our State. The language is Trumpian and would be more likely found in a speech by the likes of Orbán.”
