10 October 2019

Cllr Joanna Tuffy will tonight be selected as the Labour Party candidate for the Dublin Mid-West by-election.

Speaking ahead of this evening’s convention, Cllr Tuffy said:

“I’m honoured to be selected as the Labour Party’s by election candidate here for Dublin Mid-West and promise if elected to bring experience, honesty and compassion to the role of representative for the Constituency in the Dáil. I understand from first hand experience the challenges faced in our communities, from lack of infrastructure and services, to the need to reduce income inequality and poverty.”

Director of Elections for Cllr Tuffy, Sen. Kevin Humphreys added:

“Joanna is a proven campaigner and excellent candidate for this by-election. I look forward to working with her and our members in Dublin Mid-West on this election so Joanna can deliver for the people of Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerston, Rathcoole and Saggart. She has a long record of working for the people of Dublin Mid-West and was successful in the local elections, and I believe her values will resonate with voters.”

Labour Party Leader, Brendan Howlin TD concluded:

“Joanna has a proven track record as a champion of the people of Dublin Mid-West. As an elected Councillor, she knows in detail the needs of her community. As Labour’s spokesperson on affordable housing, she has a strong background in one of the most urgent problems facing the country. For all of these reasons and more, Joanna would be a superb representative for Dublin Mid-West in Dáil Éireann.”
