Labour Cllrs call for special City Council meeting on alleged protection payments

13 October 2019

Labour Councillors on Dublin City Council have written to the Lord Mayor requesting him to convene a special meeting of the Council, under the terms of Standing Orders 6.1.c, to receive a report from the Chief Executive on the issues raised in the recent Court proceedings and newspaper reports about possible criminal payments by Dublin City Council.

Speaking on behalf of the Labour Councillors, Cllr Joe Costello said:

“The 63 Councillors on Dublin City Council are the Board of Management of the City Council and it behoves us to hold the City Management responsible for their actions and to account for their stewardship. In a serious matter of this nature we should act without delay.”
