Juliet O’Connell to run for Labour in Dun Laoghaire
The Labour Party has confirmed that Cllr Juliet O’Connell will run for the party in Dun Laoghaire in the upcoming General Election.
Juliet is a first-time General Election candidate who reclaimed a council seat for Labour in the Dun Laoghaire ward in local elections in May, securing 1,503 votes on her first outing.
Cllr O’Connell said:
“I am delighted to be chosen by the Labour Party to run for the Dáil in Dun Laoghaire.
“As a mother, local councillor and small business owner in Dun Laoghaire, I understand first-hand the pressure on parents regarding school places, and the implications of our childcare crisis.
“As a renter, I too am experiencing the housing shortage, lack of affordability and the cost and vulnerability of renting.
“These are just some of the issues that I will be focussing on in my campaign.
“It would be an honour to represent the people of Dun Laoghaire in Dáil Éireann.
“Dun Laoghaire has always led the way for progressive political change in Ireland and I hope to build on this for future generations.”
