Commitment needed for social and affordable housing at Glass Bottle site
Responding to the announcement that planning permission has finally been granted for the first phase of development at the Glass Bottle site in Ringsend, Labour Dáil candidate for Dublin Bay South, Senator Kevin Humphreys has said commitment is needed for the funding of 900 social and affordable homes:
“I welcome today’s news that the green light has finally been given for the first phase of development at the Glass Bottle site in Ringsend.
“This has been a long time coming and is something I have campaigned for for the past four years, and I actually began my election campaign at this site last month.
“But the story doesn’t stop here.
“It is now absolutely vital that we get a commitment that funding will be provided to build 900 social and affordable homes at this site.
“This is a badly needed aspect to any development here, and has to be guaranteed in the plans.
“People are genuinely concerned that this commitment won’t be honoured and that they won’t be able to afford a home in the area.
“This site provides a massive opportunity for the social and affordable homes that are so badly needed in this area, and funding must be guaranteed.”
