High-quality, useable PPE needed for frontline health workers
Labour Party Leader Alan Kelly TD, has said acquiring high quality Personal Protective Equipment for our frontline healthcare workers is the best thing the Government and HSE could do on World Health Day.
Deputy Kelly said:
“This World Health Day we must single out the trojan work our frontline staff in the health service are doing to protect us all in the wake of Covid-19. Doctors, Nurses, healthcare assistants, cleaners, porters, ambulance staff, carers and all involved in testing have been our heroes in the last month and will continue to be for a long time.
“The best thing we as a country can do at this time to protect our protectors is to ensure the PPE they have is adequate. We know from media reports that at least 20% of the first batch of PPE that came in from China cannot be used by frontline workers.
“I have been working with officials in the HSE to ensure that high-quality and most importantly useable PPE will be available to staff.
“Our frontline staff are risking their lives to save us. They deserve the best protection possible.”
