Publish cost of Private Hospital deal

14 April 2020
  • Two weeks on from deal still no detail

Labour Leader Alan Kelly has called once again for the deal done with private hospitals to be published and said the Minister for Health and HSE should confirm the monthly cost of renting the facilities.

Deputy Kelly said:

“At the Leaders briefing last week I called for the immediate publication of the licensing agreement reached with 19 private hospitals. Over two weeks on we still don’t have any real detail of what was agreed in that public private partnership.

“At a minimum people should know the monthly payments that are being made to rent these facilities and how many millions are being spent. The deal over buildings was quickly reached while two weeks on there is still no staffing agreement with private consultants.

“We still have no detail of what is covered in that agreement. There must be transparency and the publication of the value of the deal and how operators and owners will be reimbursed during and after the pandemic for the use of these facilities.

“Our HSE and public health officials are performing brilliantly in the midst of a global pandemic but normal accountability is not suspended.”
