Certainty for Leaving Cert students welcome
Labour Education Spokesperson Aodhán Ó Ríordáin has warmly welcomed the announcement that the Leaving certificate results will be published on the 25th of August this year.
Deputy Ó Ríordáin said:
“For the Last few years we have been highly critical of the Minister and the State Examinations commission due to the persistent delays in publishing Leaving Cert results.
“I was deeply concerned that late results would persist. Delayed results have caused huge problems for students and colleges over the last few years.
“The earlier date makes a huge difference to people, allowing students and colleges a chance to plan properly . In previous years there many students who missed out or had to defer courses they had been accepted to in The Netherlands and the UK in particular.
“In February I emphasised the importance of this to the Minister so it is welcome to see her get on top of the brief and ensure that results are out in a decent timeframe.”
