EU leaders must push for ceasefire in Gaza

Labour’s Eurocandidate for Ireland South, Niamh Hourigan, calls for immediate action to address the escalating crisis in Gaza.
Niamh Hourigan said,
“As we witness the continued devastation in Gaza, it is clear that urgent action is needed. It is imperative that EU leaders use their power to ensure a ceasefire and provide support to the thousands facing the humanitarian catastrophe.
“The death toll is mounting and starvation has set in. We cannot stand idly by while innocent lives are lost and communities are torn apart. We need to hold those responsible for human rights violations to account.
“The ongoing bombing and destruction in Gaza leave no room for delay. EU leaders must prioritise rallying the international community and taking decisive action to bring about a ceasefire.
“It is time for the EU to demonstrate leadership and urgency in facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza. We cannot afford to ignore the suffering of the people of Gaza any longer.”
