Why I got involved in politics
As a sociologist for twenty five years, I gained an understanding of a lot of problems on the ground through my research. However, I found it very difficult to filter those understandings through to policy and policy-makers. I got involved in politics to fight for social justice and make a difference.
My priorities
- Fighting for a Just Transition to a Greener Economy
- Introducing a European Plan for Affordable Housing
- Protecting Irish Neutrality
My background
I am a mother of two from Limerick city. I have worked in Higher Education for twenty-five years (UCC, UL, Mary Immaculate College). As Sociologist, my research has focused on crime, education, and fundamental values in politics. As a graduate student, I worked in local radio and have continued to contribute to the media drawing attention to issues of social inequality.
Clubs and Committees
I have been involved with a number of organizations working on the ground in Ireland South including Cork Simon, Limerick Food Partnership, Barnardos, Threshold, GAA Strategic Planning Team.
