Wall demands action as funding withdrawn from Kildare Children’s Centre
Labour’s General Election Candidate in Kildare South, Senator Mark Wall, has condemned the Department of Justice’s decision to withhold €4.5 million in agreed funding for Sensational Kids, a charity centre in Kildare Town to support children with additional needs.
Senator Wall said:
“Construction on this vital facility in Kildare town has now ground to a halt, leaving local families devastated and children without the services they urgently require.
“These children are being let down. The abrupt halting of construction is devastating for the local community. It is unthinkable that a project aimed at helping some of the most vulnerable in society is being sacrificed due to what appears to be political negligence.
“The Department of Justice’s failure to deliver on this funding isn’t just a financial oversight – it’s a moral failing. There’s no excuse. Builders have downed tools, families have been left in the lurch, and a crucial vision for this community has been shattered.
“This centre was designed as a charity-led initiative to fill a gap the state has ignored for far too long. The €4.5 million promised for this centre must be delivered immediately. Builders must get back on site, and this project must move forward without further delay. Children with additional needs in Kildare Town deserve better.”
