Statement on the death of Garda Kevin Flatley - The Labour Party
Labour Justice spokesperson Alan Kelly said:
“On behalf of the Labour Party I want to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Garda Kevin Flatley.
“This is a deeply shocking incident that a Garda would be killed in the line of duty while manning a speed checkpoint.
“Our Gardaí are there to protect and serve us, as guardians of the peace. Every day they risk their lives on our behalf. I am so sad for the tragic loss his family and fellow members must cope with, in particular I am thinking of his wife and young children this evening.”
