MORE ACTION NEEDED ON HIV AND AIDS

01 December 2016

Speaking on World AIDS Day, Labour spokesperson on Health, Alan Kelly TD has called on the Government to increase their effort to combat HIV and AIDS.

“The statistics show that in the last year more people are living in Ireland with HIV than ever before. This Government should devote greater resources  to address the epidemic.

“Minister Simon Harris and the HSE must now adopt a comprehensive and coordinated HIV strategy that links clinical and community efforts to halt transmission of HIV and to care for those with the disease.

“Science is making great progress and allows for hope. But until the day a cure is finally discovered, prevention remains our best chance to save lives.”
