PENROSE AND HOWLIN TO LAUNCH PENSIONS BILL AT 12.30PM TODAY

Labour leader Brendan Howlin TD, and spokesperson on Social Protection, Willie Penrose TD, will today, Tuesday 24th January launch the Pension (Amendment) Bill 2017 for submission to the Ceann Comhairle.

The Bill would amend the Pensions Act by protecting workers when their defined benefits scheme is being wound up, and/or if their employer remains solvent.
Deputy Penrose and Labour leader, Brendan Howlin, will be available to speak to reporters on the Plinth at 12.30pm.

Deputy Penrose has also tabled a Priority Question to the Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar, for response on Tuesday afternoon, asking him to outline his plans to address this loophole in the law.
