Nash to publish text of Apology motion to mark 25th anniversary of decriminalisation – 11am plinth

Labour Senator Ged Nash will be available to speak to reporters at 11am today, Wednesday 14th June on the Leinster House plinth.

He will publish the draft text of a motion apologising to men who were convicted of engaging in consensual same-sex sexual acts prior to the decriminalisation of homosexuality in June 1993.

It is intended that the motion, with Government support will be debated next week in the Dáil and Seanad, and he will be seeking all party support.

The motion arises from Nash’s ‘Convictions for Certain Sexual Offences (Apology and Exoneration) Bill 2016’ was debated in the Seanad last year.
