Duncan Smith appointed Labour Party Director of Elections
Leader of the Labour Party Alan Kelly TD has appointed Duncan Smith TD as Director of Elections for the party in the by-election that will be held later this year in Dublin Bay South.
The Labour Party selection convention to formally endorse Ivana Bacik as our candidate will be held this coming Monday 17th May at 8pm and will be chaired by Duncan Smith.
Deputy Kelly said: “I am delighted to appoint Duncan Smith as our Director of Elections for the Dublin Bay South by-election where we will select Ivana Bacik as our candidate on Monday night.
“Given Duncan’s experience of running in a by-election, he knows what is needed to run a strong campaign, and what it takes to win. He will be supported by a fantastic local team of Labour public representatives, members and supporters eager to win a Dáil seat from the government and elect a progressive woman TD from the constituency.”
Duncan Smith said:
“It is a real privilege to be Director of Elections for a candidate of the calibre of Ivana Bacik. Dublin Bay South has a long history of supporting Labour values and our campaign is already underway.
“I look forward to chairing the Selection Convention for Ivana on Monday night when she will be confirmed as our Labour Party candidate.
“Given her progressive record, depth of experience and deeply held social democratic principles Ivana is best placed to win this seat from the government and our party is hugely energised and motivated by the prospect of this election.”
