Moynihan appalled at brazen attack on tourists

Senator Rebecca Moynihan

Labour Councillor in Dublin’s South West Inner-City Rebecca Moynihan has expressed her shock at the appalling attack on two tourists near the Guinness Storehouse.

Cllr Moynihan said:

“Like anyone who’s seen the footage of the attack on two tourists in broad daylight in the heart of Dublin yesterday, I am absolutely appalled.

“While the use of gun violence is not a typical occurrence in the area, criminal and anti social behaviour by a gang has been growing in this particular area. Garda resources here are stretched but we need to see a greater physical presence of Gardai in this part of the city.

“The brazenness of what happened is really disturbing and brings home the importance of community policing.

“People need to feel safe on the city’s streets and we need to see frontline Gardai on the beat.

“As a community we also have to send the message that this type of behaviour is not acceptable in our area.”
