Swift Action required on Government’s Defence Plan
- Need for actual implementation, rather than another report left gathering dust.
Labour’s Defence spokesperson, Senator Mark Wall, has welcomed the release of the Government’s Detailed Implementation Plan for the Irish Defence Forces.
Senator Wall said:
“I welcome the Government’s Detailed Implementation Plan for the Irish Defence Forces. However, what truly matters at this stage is not just the existence of another report, but the tangible action taken to address the long-standing issues within our Defence Forces. We’ve witnessed numerous reports gathering dust on shelves; this one cannot suffer the same fate.
“The men and women of our Defence Forces work tirelessly. They deserve more than lip service or hollow commitments. This plan must translate into visible improvements in their working conditions, training, and overall support system.
“The continued delay in addressing the challenges faced by our Defence Forces is not acceptable. We’ve seen promises made and reports commissioned, yet little has changed on the ground. This cannot be another instance where good intentions remain confined to paper.”
