Human impact must be priority in Fastway collapse – Labour - The Labour Party

Labour’s Enterprise Spokesperson George Lawlor TD has expressed deep concern following the announcement that Fastway’s parent company has gone into receivership, placing 300 jobs under immediate threat. It is understood that hundreds more could be affected among subcontractors and franchisees across the delivery network.
Deputy Lawlor said:
“This is deeply worrying news for Fastway workers and their families. It is very sad to hear of the potential job losses, which will come as a tremendous blow to all those directly employed by the company. The impact of this decision will not stop at the gates of the firm – it will ripple through families and their communities.”
“At a time like this, the company has a moral responsibility to engage meaningfully with workers and to ensure that their rights and entitlements are fully protected. Too often we see situations where workers are left in the dark during times of uncertainty. That cannot happen here.
“Those who have owned Fastway franchises have been completely thrown under the bus. Government must now step in to ensure that these small business owners are not abandoned, and that supports are made available to help them recover and protect their livelihoods.
“This is a moment for compassion and responsibility. Workers and franchise owners should not be left carrying the burden. I am calling on Fastway to engage constructively with both workers and unions, and on Government to ensure that every person affected is given the respect, transparency, and fairness they deserve in the difficult weeks ahead.”
